Triptych – oil on wood panels, 16″ x 52″ – For many, the summer of 1939 must have seemed to be a wonderful, normal time. No one could have known the extent to which lives would be completely and irrevocably changed. My mother lost a favourite brother. This painting arises out of my rereading the last letter he sent to her.
