Concession Stand, Torcello

oil on Arches Huile paper, 11″ x 15″
One of my favourite places to visit and sketch is the island of Torcello.  Torcello was to have been what Venice later became but persistent flooding and the fires that ensued necessitated moving the fledgling 11th century community to higher ground.  This concession stand, situated in front of the wonderful basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.
